The warmth comes from the recycled Stratus™ R insulation, which traps air and reduces heat loss. The Stratosphere 4 also has a low-profile two-way valve and comes with a super-useful pump sack, so it’s quick and easy to inflate when you’re ready to hunker down. There’s a repair kit thrown in too, which is always a bonus.

Perhaps most importantly, this mat is a comfy one. The oversized outer chambers keep you in the middle so there’s less risk of rolling off in your sleep, while the roomy rectangular shape makes for a comfortable night’s rest whatever your preferred sleeping position.
